Maine’s diverse land- and sea-scapes are home to hundreds of species of birds, from forest songbirds to wading birds along the shore to sea birds that nest on offshore islands. Maine birds are the subject a new statewide inventory effort, which will be informed by the many agencies and organizations who monitor bird populations. 2018 is also the International Year of the Bird.

On this program, host Catherine Schmitt talked birds with Jeff Wells from the Boreal Songbird Initiative, Chris Bartlett of Maine Sea Grant, and Doug Hitchcox of Maine Audubon. They discussed the Maine Bird Atlas and answered questions about birds seen or heard in Maine.
