Alliance for Maine’s Marine Economy embarks on virtual cooking tour
The Alliance for Maine’s Marine Economy (Alliance), a network dedicated to the growth of a vibrant marine economy for Maine and coordinated by a Maine Sea Grant Marine Extension Team member Keri Kaczor, is elevating Maine seafood with a series of virtual cooking demonstrations.
The cooking tour kicked off in April with a demonstration of techniques for preparing cold cracked lobster from Curt Brown of Ready Seafood and Chef Rob Dumas of UMaine Food Science Innovation. You can watch a video of the event on Facebook (no account required).
Next stop on the tour will broadcast from Stonington, Maine and feature Maine Sea scallops. Togue Brawn, Marsden Brewer, and Marnie Crowell will join Chef Rob Dumas in the kitchen to learn how to prepare wild and farmed sea scallops. Participants will meet the trail-blazing fisherman and farmer who sustainably raised the scallops, and they will learn how Alliance investments in new technologies, equipment, and infrastructure are transforming Maine’s marine economy.
Register for the event, or watch live on Facebook on Thursday May 27, 2021 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm.
This event is hosted by the Alliance, sponsored by Maine Community Foundation, Maine Technology Institute, and supported by Alliance members. For more information about future events, check out the Alliance’s News and Events page.
