President, Coastal & Estuarine Research Federation
Seattle, WA

The mission of the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation is to advance understanding and stewardship of estuarine and coastal ecosystems worldwide through promoting research supporting education, and facilitating communication among scientists, government, and the public. The Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation is the only scientific society whose members focus exclusively on the essential intersection of research, management and restoration of estuarine and coastal ecosystems.

The 2017 meeting, “Coastal Science at the Inflection Point: Celebrating Successes and Learning from Challenges,” includes presentations on a wide variety of estuarine and coastal topics. CERF will convene 1,500 scientists, managers and professionals in government, business, nonprofit and related organizations, graduate students and undergraduate students. UMaine Darling Marine Center Director Heather Leslie is part of a plenary panel speaking about Food Webs and Fisheries.
