The Habitat Restoration Subcommittee of the Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment identified the need to produce and distribute science-based information about 1) salt marsh ecology, human impacts, monitoring, and habitat restoration and 2) American eel natural history, ecology, human impacts and conservation in the Gulf of Maine region. The subcommittee worked with a group of experts to develop these two primers, which provide accurate, scientifically based information on each topic in the context of ecosystem-based management. Sea Grant funds supported the printing and distribution of the publications, available from the Gulf of Maine Council.
