Jessica Kemp

Jessica Kemp is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of New England pursuing a major in Marine Science, with a dual minor in Chemistry and Aquaculture & Aquarium Science. She expects to graduate in May of 2022. Currently, Kemp is spending the summer of 2021 working on a sustainable aquaculture project aiming to show that mealworms (Tenebrio molitor larvae) are a suitable replacement for fishmeal in tilapia feeds. The Maine Sea Grant will allow the project to continue past the summer and throughout Kemp’s senior year. With this additional time more data can be collected showing how insect-based feeds affect tilapia growth and development.

Jessica is a recipient of a 2021 Maine Sea Grant Undergraduate Scholarship in Marine Sciences.
