The Nor'easter Ocean Sciences Bowl is an annual regional competition for high school students focused on topics related to the oceans. In this one-day academic tournament, teams of high school students compete against other teams from northern New England to answer questions about the physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and geography of the oceans, the social sciences, ocean-related technologies, and current events. The Nor'easter Bowl rotates between the University of Maine, University of New England, and University of New Hampshire. It is one of 25 regional ocean competitions that take place throughout the United States in February and March as part of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. Winning teams and their coaches receive academic scholarships, field trips and guided tours of research sites, as well as many different prizes. Sea Grant staff volunteer as judges at the event.
