Windstorm Challenge is an ocean energy design competition for middle and high school students hosted by the DeepCwind Consortium and the University of Maine. Teams work independently throughout the spring to design and build a scale-model floating wind turbine, and then come to the University of Maine for a full day competition (on 27 April 2012). Winning team members who attend the University of Maine receive a $20,000 paid internship at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center.

In addition to helping sponsor the event, Sea Grant staff are serving as judges.
