Megan Maloney

My name is Megan and I’m a rising junior at College of the Atlantic (class of 2026). I’m majoring in human ecology with a concentration in marine sciences and marine mammal ecology. In the future, I hope to continue down the research path and discover more about how our oceans are changing and what that means for those living in and around them. The Sea Grant scholarship is supporting me in my summer field research, which is currently taking place on Mount Desert Rock. My study uses passive acoustic and telemetry-based methods to monitor, track, and estimate population density of marine megafauna, including baleen whales and great white sharks.

Megan is a 2024 Maine Sea Grant Undergraduate Scholar.
