Lydia Burnett

As a human ecology major at the College of the Atlantic (class of ‘25), Lydia’s educational interests lie in environmental science, marine conservation, and environmental education. Building on her study of marine plastic pollution in Osakikamijima, Japan, Lydia is now using the support of the Maine Sea Grant scholarship to quantify microplastic ingestion in herring gulls at the Alice Eno Field Research Center on Great Duck Island. In addition, she’s conducting an island-wide marine debris survey.

Lydia is a 2024 Maine Sea Grant Undergraduate Scholar.
