I am a Senior Extension Program Manager, and the Aquaculture Lead for the Maine Sea Grant College Program, and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. I hold a BS in Wildlife Management (University of New Hampshire), and an MS in Fisheries Technology (University of Rhode Island). I also hold a grudge against Bucky Dent, and a fly rod whenever possible.

My work as an ‘extension agent’ incorporates educational programming, technology transfer and applied research, mostly focusing on shellfish production. I am active in the intersection between commercial fishing and aquaculture, and the integration of these industries, toward the diversification of options for fishermen and the continued prosperity of Maine coastal communities. I serve as a technical resource for shellfish producers, fishermen, scientists, regulators and others, and serve also to communicate science-based information on marine issues to those stakeholders who need such information, and I’m an absolute sucker for trying out new gear, and trying to figure out how to grow new species in the marine environment. I’ve been on the job for over 28 years, and still enjoy it as much as the first day, but if a paying job comes up involving fly fishing, surfing, snorkeling or trying out doughnuts in new places……then I’m outta here.
