Ajani Bakari

Ajani Bakari is a native Tennessean and a recent graduate of Unity College, receiving a Master’s in Marine Science. Though from a land locked state, Ajani has ancestral roots in Florida, Maine, and the Georgia Sea Islands. With a degree in Psychology, training and research experience in Planetary Astronomy, a decade of science communication experience, and a desire to help society navigate the climate crisis (with a COVID 19 lockdown sprinkled in), he found himself going from a Marine Science graduate program to being a Dean John A. Knauss Fellow within NOAA Oceanic and Atmospheric Research office of Communications. His current research interests include the Blue Economy, Traditional Knowledge Systems, Marine Policy, and Climate Security.

Ajani is a lifelong gamer, martial arts history buff, personal trainer, Godzilla and Star Wars nerd.
