Comprehensive synthesis of American lobster research over the past two decades

The New York and Connecticut Sea Grant programs are supporting a review of the last 20 years of American lobster (Homarus americanus) science as part of the National Sea Grant American Lobster Initiative regional extension program. A research team led by Jason Goldstein, Research Director of the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve, was selected to undertake this important task.

The review is intended to culminate in a peer-reviewed publication identifying key themes and existing knowledge gaps, while summarizing the status of knowledge to help guide decisions about future research avenues. Given the broad scope of the work, the researchers will inevitably be unable to cover everything. To ensure the final product is as valuable as possible to the broader research community, the team is inviting input from their colleagues in the field. All are welcome to submit comments on key themes, foundational papers, or topics that they feel are important, and are also encouraged to share PDFs or other materials of relevant work. The work is expected to be completed by summer 2024.

To provide input, please email Jason Goldstein or email Ben Gutzler.
