Gabriella Marafino
Gabriella Marafino is a master’s student at the University of Maine studying ecology and human dimensions of the marine environment. Prior to starting graduate school, Gabriella received her bachelor’s degree in biology and applied conservation studies from George Mason University in Virginia, and then worked at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Maryland as a Biological Science Technician. Gabriella is currently the President-elect of the American Fisheries Society (AFS) Socioeconomics Section and served as the Vice President of the UMaine AFS Student Subunit during the 2019-2020 academic year. Gabriella grew up overseas in England, Germany, and Russia, and enjoys traveling and hiking in her spare time.
Marafino was awarded the Knauss Fellowship and will be working with the NOAA Budget Office Division of Formulation and Communications.
